1. Navigate to the specific CDN resource you want to protect.

2. Click on the “Access protection” tab.

3. Enable Referrer Settings.

Toggle the Referrer settings to “On” to activate hotlink protection for your CDN resource.

4. Choose Protection Type.

  • Blocklist: Prevents specified domains from accessing your content. Use this to block known abusers.
  • Allowlist: Only allows specified domains to access your content. Use this for tight control over your content distribution.

5. Specify Domains.

  • For Blocklist: Enter the domains you want to block, one per line.
  • For Allowlist: Enter the domains you want to allow, one per line.

Note: Wildcards are supported for domains, for example, using *.example.com would include all subdomains of example.com.

Once you have configured your list, save the settings to activate hotlink protection.

Best Practices

  • Regularly review your blocklist and allowlist to ensure they are up to date.
  • Use wildcards judiciously to prevent unintentional access restrictions.
  • Monitor your CDN usage statistics to identify potential unauthorized access.
